Claims Process

At Truthful Transport Inc., we understand how important your vehicle is. While we are a licensed auto transport broker and do not physically transport vehicles, we are committed to helping our customers understand and navigate the claims process should damage occur during transport. This page explains how auto transport claims work, what steps to take, and how we assist you throughout the process.

Important Broker Disclosure

Truthful Transport Inc. is a licensed auto transport brokerage, not a motor carrier. The transporting carrier is responsible for the physical transportation of your vehicle and carries the cargo insurance that covers damage claims. However, we remain available to assist and guide our customers throughout the claims process. Before Delivery: How to Protect Yourself Proper documentation is critical in the event of a claim. Before pickup: Clean your vehicle so existing damage is visible Take clear photos of all sides of the vehicle Remove personal items (they are not covered by carrier insurance) Disable alarms and note any mechanical issues At Delivery: Inspect Carefully When your vehicle is delivered: Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL) Compare the vehicle’s condition to the pickup inspection report Note any new damage on the Bill of Lading Take clear photos of the damage from multiple angles ⚠️ Important: If damage is not noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery, it may be difficult or impossible to file a successful claim.

Filing a Damage Claim

If damage is discovered and properly documented: Contact Truthful Transport Inc. as soon as possible We will provide you with the carrier’s insurance information Submit a written claim directly to the carrier or their insurance provider Include: Bill of Lading (pickup and delivery copies) Photos of the damage Repair estimates Submit the claim within the carrier’s required timeframe (typically 24–72 hours)

Our Role as Your Broker

While the carrier is responsible for handling and paying claims, Truthful Transport Inc. assists by: Providing carrier insurance details Helping you understand claim requirements Facilitating communication between you and the carrier Following up when necessary Please note: Truthful Transport Inc. does not pay claims directly, as all claims are handled through the transporting carrier’s insurance.

Insurance Coverage Explained

Auto transport carriers typically carry cargo insurance, which: Covers damage caused during transport Has coverage limits that vary by carrier Does not cover: 1. Pre-existing damage 2. Personal items left in the vehicle 3. Mechanical issues unrelated to transport We work with carriers that maintain valid insurance and compliance, but coverage terms are determined by the carrier’s insurer.

Claim timelines vary depending on: Carrier response time Insurance company investigation Repair estimates and documentation Most claims are resolved within 30–90 days, though some may take longer depending on complexity.
